Spotlight on Rachel Drummond

Former Ladies European Tour professional Rachel Drummond has transitioned into one of golf’s most respected broadcasters and analysts. A PGA-qualified coach with a deep understanding of elite performance, Rachel is best known for her on-course insight and engaging analysis across global tours, including LIV Golf. She blends technical expertise with storytelling, offering fans a rare, inside-the-ropes perspective on the modern game.

Q. How did you transition from pro golfer to golf media star?

It happened organically, but it was also shaped by life. After losing my dad and then my mom during lockdown, I knew I needed to re-evaluate everything. When I retired from professional golf, I moved into coaching, which kept me closely connected to the technical and performance side of the game.
Broadcasting grew from that foundation. I secured my first Sky Sports EuroPro Tour role after posting tuition videos on LinkedIn. I quickly realized this became a real USP, because I could translate what players are thinking, feeling, and trying to achieve in real time. Having been there myself gives me a genuine understanding of pressure, momentum, and decision-making. And audiences authentically connect with that.

Q. Career highlight so far?

Working inside the ropes at the biggest events in the world, alongside the very best players, is something I never take for granted. Being trusted to tell their stories with accuracy and real insight, explaining not just what’s happening but why, is hugely rewarding. It genuinely feels like a continuation of my playing career, just viewed through a different lens.

Q. How does commentating on the LIV Tour differ from traditional formats?

LIV is fast-paced, team-driven, and unapologetically fan-focused. The shotgun starts, the music, the atmosphere… create a completely different energy on site. From an editorial perspective, it allows us to go much deeper into personality, team dynamics and momentum shifts throughout the round. It’s immersive, modern, and aligns perfectly with how audiences consume sport today.

Q. Will LIV launch a women’s tour?

I genuinely hope so. Women’s golf is thriving, and there’s space for innovation in how it’s presented and supported. LIV has shown it’s willing to challenge traditional models, and that kind of thinking could be incredibly powerful for the women’s game if applied in the right way.

Q. Who are your favorite pro golfers to analyze?

Players who are constantly evolving fascinate me. Those who have unique swings but own their game completely. I love the contrast of someone like Bryson DeChambeau, who is rooted in technique, and then someone like the self-taught Abraham Ancer, who is all feel.

Q. Do you research players before an event, or are you usually up to speed with their key stats?

It’s a mix. I work closely with stats specialist Duncan Carey, who collaborates with many of the world’s top players and teams. We look at the data before events, which helps shape the questions I ask and the insights I bring on air. Data is powerful, but it’s most effective when combined with what I feel and hear from the player when I am present.

Q. Which 2026 LIV tour stop are you most looking forward to?

South Africa! I love the country, the energy, the people, and the passion for sport. The Stinger GC connection makes it even more special. And the entertainment and live acts scheduled, like Black Coffee and Calvin Harris, will be so much fun.
