Moonah Links – Stay & Play on the Mornington Peninsula

A golfing getaway to the Mornington Peninsula should certainly be on your radar. Peppers Moonah Links Resort ticks all the boxes for an unforgettable stay & play golf holiday. There are two world-class courses here – the Open Course and the Legends Course. Expect both to provide an exciting challenge.

Whilst golf is the main drawcard for visitors, it must be noted that the resort facilities provide the ideal recipe for an indulgent escape from the everyday.

There’s delicious on-site dining at Pebbles restaurant and we just love that their menu features fresh produce from local farms on the Mornington Peninsula. Not to mention a bunch of fabulous wines local to the region! The charming accommodation options are superbly located within a seaside bushland haven adjacent to the links courses.

Feeling a bit tired after a day on the green and in need of some pampering? Well, you’re in luck because we recommend guests treat themselves with a lush body treatment or reinvigorating thermal dip over at the neighbouring Peninsula Hot Springs.

Oh, and the pro shop here is fully stocked with the latest and greatest golf equipment and stylish golf fashion brands (go on, pick up a new golf outfit or two). Most importantly, the team of friendly pro shop attendants at Moonah Links are always keen to assist visitors and share their insider course knowledge and playing tips with you.

Course Overviews

Open Course

Step into the shoes of the pros for a day and test your drive on the only course designed for the Australian Open. The Open Course at Moonah Links is the first ever 18 holes built and prepared for a national championship. With exceptional viewing platforms for spectators. It is one of the longest courses in Australia, and probably in the world in this category.

It measures 6783 metres, so it offers more than a casual stroll in the outdoors. It is a mighty and ferocious test of golfing ability, the likes of which even the top pros only occasionally experience. In terms of difficulty, I estimate a club-handicapped player would merit an extra eight strokes assistance to return a net par score, yet the course has great flexibility. It can be played at many different lengths depending on tees selected.

In addition to its conducive natural contours, the site is blessed with ever-present wind of some direction and strength, and this enhances its attributes.

Legends Course

The younger sibling to the Open Course, the Legends Course was opened for play in 2003 after the Australian Open and was greeted with rave reviews.  The work of Ross Perrett, the Legends Course has consistently ranked highly in all course reviews and whilst slightly easier than the Open Course, is certainly no pushover.  The Legends is shorter, being “only” 6,315 metres off the black tees.  It is blessed with the better piece of land, has more natural trees and bushes through which the holes wander and certainly bunkers that would not look out of place in the sandbelt itself.

Pepper Moonah Links Resort Accommodation

The peaceful ambiance you feel at Peppers Moonah Links is all part of a thoughtful overall golf resort design that works to harmonise the property with the land and optimise the course-side position.
