Women In the Golf Industry Board Adds Its Voice to Concerns Over Callaway/Good Good Advertisement

The Board of Directors of Women In the Golf Industry (WIGI) on behalf of our membership feel it is important to add the organization's voice to the recent Callaway/Good Good ad that depicted a man tackling a woman to the ground over a golf club. The ad has drawn swift, widespread criticism inside and outside the industry, including within our ranks. This type of decision making and marketing is more than a mistake and continues to add to an unacceptable undercurrent culture.

“Since its founding, Women in the Golf Industry (WIGI) in its 25 years has created community and connection that bring women together to learn, uplift and grow within the golf industry,” Kay McMahon, WIGI president and past national president of LPGA Professionals, said.

“The recent events surrounding the Callaway/Good Good ad have created an opportune moment to speak up, have a stronger voice at the table and touches on the core of why WIGI exists— representing women as leaders and entrepreneurs and to encourage the positive representation of female participation in the game.

Apologies and corrective action matter, and we recognize the steps already taken," McMahon said. “However, moments like these also present an opportunity for the industry to pose a more profound question: are we consistently demonstrating respect and inclusion for women as leaders, competitors, and professionals as we know them to be?”

WIGI welcomes that conversation. We invite brands, media partners, and industry leaders to engage directly with WIGI and the women driving its mission — building a more inclusive golf industry, together.
