England’s Lottie Woad enjoyed a fairytale ending to her professional debut, winning the 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open by three shots. Woad held off a spirited challenge by major winner Hyo Joo Kim, who managed to draw level on occasion in the final round but faded towards the end as Woad proved both unflappable and ultimately, unstoppable.
In the last month, Woad forfeited approximately £58,000 after winning the Irish Open and $547,000 after finishing tied 3rd at the Amundi Evian Championship due to her amateur status, so she is now finally able to bank her winner’s cheque of $300,000.
Rounds of 67,65, 67 and 68 with only three bogeys all week, Woad commented…
“It is very special to win in my first event. You know, everyone was chasing me today, and I managed to maintain the lead and played really nicely down the stretch and hit a lot of good shots, which is nice.”
On seemingly winning in such a stress-free manner….
“I mean, it might have looked less stressful than maybe it was at times, but I think I only had like three bogeys, which, I mean, the wind
wasn't too bad the first due days. But on links golf, it's definitely about bogey avoidance. That was probably the key to winning.”
On her week at Dundonald Links…
“It's been great. I've never been here before. The course is amazing, in great condition, and played different every day with the different wind directions. It was a nice challenge and everyone here has been so kind.”
Her very low-key excitement on finally receiving a cheque…
“I don't even know what the winner's cheque is. But yeah, I mean, a lot of people have obviously talked about me not winning any money.”
